THE TAKEOVERS “LITTLE GREEN ONION MAN” EP

It’s finally here (or coming to your attention)! This freaky little beast that be is the new Takeovers release the “Little Green Onion Man” EP. A nice mini-movie comprised of 4 songs (one from the Bad Football album—the other 3 are unreleased Robert Pollard compositions) that warmly straddles the loosey-goosey psych-pop sounds of their first album, Turn To Red, as well as the white knuckled rock pomp of their second (Bad Football). Also along for the drive is John Moen of Stephen Malkmus/The Decemberists, Sam Coomes of Quasi/Blues Goblins and Brian Berg of 44 Long to join the boys as they take you on a tight little visit of their twisted lop-sided tunage. It'll be pressed in a limited edition of 950 CDs and 950 copies of 7" vinyl (500 of the vinyl will be handnumber and available only through this lovely website!)

FEB. 12th 2008 (but all off records web orders will be shipped Feb. 1st)

Goldcard
After much coercion from his peers, the reclusive Charlie Campbell (formerly of Pond) finally allows the world to hear the Goldcard recordings - about which a small, priviledged group of awe-inspired fellow musicians have long whispered since the mid-90's, and have actually come out of the woodwork to help complete this year. Brace yourself for recordings of the greatest band that never was.

Phantom Tollbooth
Beard of Lightning

Check this out. Bob Pollard of Guided By Voices takes one of his favorite records, Phantom Tollbooth's swan song (Power Toy, originally released on Homestead Records and featuring members of Bongwater and King Missile) to create a first of its kind (at least to our knowledge). The band erased the exisiting vocals from the record, they replaced them with new vocals and lyrics from Bob to make a new Phantom Tollbooth record—Beard of Lightning.
